Your right: Sharing your own information

Our User Portal gives service users at Milparinka ownership of a web page where you can store up to date information, for example communication aids, personal care plans or just preferences that are important to you, that can be accessed by people and services who you give permission to. You don’t have to know about the web to do this. Milparinka will manage the page under your direction of what should be on it and who should get access.

One of the difficulties and  frustrations  people  and their families often talk to us about is the problem of using multiple  services and supports and keeping the information that each service holds up to date so that the most relevant support and assistance is provided. Also it is painful to be constantly asked to provide the same information over and over again to different people.

What does the user portal do:

  • It provides people with a way of keeping all service providers and support up to date with relevant information from one place
  • It lets you update information important to your support as it changes without having to  do it in multiple places. For example lots of people we know are constantly improving the range and use of communication aids but any other services the persons use do not have current or easy access to changes to the aids.
  • You can ask Milparinka to keep updated documents such as support plans, communication aids etc on the page so that you can look at these and see what is happening from home when it is convenient to you.
  • Gives you an chance to make sure that all people who support you have important information about your preferences.
  • Lets you share this information in a private and secure way.

 How Does it Work

  • The user portal is accessed through the Milparinka Web page
  • A portal belongs to the person and their family and is only shared with people or places that they give access to.
  • When you give access to someone the User will have a password which is just for them and can be removed at the request of the service user and their family
  • The Service user simply contacts Milparinka and either asks us to include information or a document that we have  or alternatively provide us with a document that you or another agency has developed to include on your page. Milparinka is the Administrator of the site and you will not be able to change the page yourself outside of Milparinka.
  • We will upload the document and it will be there for all people and services you want to give access to.

Who is able to own a page:

Anyone who is associated with Milparinka through our individualised, group or escapade Respite Program, is able to start a page.

If you want to know more about the User Portal page or would like to start one then please phone or email Milparinka to speak to one of our Management team about this.
