Self-Managing Staff

We work alongside a number of family’s and individuals who self-manage their NDIS package.

For many of these families it as simple as working together in partnership to create the best opportunities for participants. This can range from us taking on a thinking and coordination role to one of providing direct support staff from our staff establishment.

The other main way we work with people who are self-managed is by acting as an employment agency. Many individuals and families who are self-managing are committed to designing and directing their own supports. They want to manage the whole process of their supports including interviewing and selecting staff, rostering and managing them on a daily basis.

Some of these families want to be sure their staff are paid in ways that reflect the same opportunities as other staff in the disability sector and that the legal requirements of employers are being met. This means ensuring that staff are paid correctly, covered by liability insurance and they have superannuation entitlements, portable long service leave and workcover paid and current. For these families we have a system where Milparinka is the legal employer of your staff and we take on the responsibility for paying staff and ensuring things such as liability insurance, superannuation, portable long service leave and workcover are covered. You retain the responsibility of interviewing and selecting staff, rostering and managing them on a daily basis.

For this support we charge an administration fee which when combined with the staff hourly rate and on costs is usually less than the allocated NDIS hourly rate so your funding will go further.
